Dear people,

I am Corinna Stahlhofen (53), a certified independent Midwife from Germany. I immigrated to India in 2001 and founded the first Birthing Centre for natural childbirth and water birth in Goa.

I provide a personal, individual and holistic pregnancy care, counselling, birth planning, birth preparing classes, natural childbirth, postnatal care, breastfeeding support, family planning and much more.

I have delivered around 800 babies from all over the world and I am specialised in water birth. I am one of the very few foreign midwives in India and I am the only one running her own Institution.

End of 2019 I opened the ASSAGAO BIRTHING CENTRE not only for birthing but also for heath, wellness and education with focus on women’s needs. 

I want to support midwifery in India and I like sharing my knowledge and experiences.

I have inspired Birth Village in Cochin and The Birth Home in Bangalore and I participated at the “Human Right in Childbirth Conference” at Tata Institute/ Mumbai in 2016.  I wish to see birthing centre spreading all over India.

Within 6 month of renovation we built a beautiful Birthing Room with specially designed water birth facilities. 

We built a Wooden Deck providing a beautiful jungle view and offering space for different kinds of Yoga, TRX, Tai Chi, Pilates, Meditation, Breathing, Singing, Dancing and other events.

The Pool Side is a wonderful space for drawing or pottery classes but also for group meetings and teaching. 

The Pool can be used for birth preparation, swimming classes, baby swimming, water gymnastics, Watsu and much more. 

The Hall is a nice indoor space for baby play groups, birth preparing classes, doula trainings, singing circles and so on.

There are two more consultation /treatment rooms for pre- and postnatal check ups, baby care, acupuncture, physiotherapy, homeopathy, hypnotherapy, sound healing and massages. There is an office and a kitchen/tea corner for heatlty drinks and snacks.

The ASSAGAO BIRTHING CENTRE is a peaceful space for people to care for themselves, meet, connect, share and learn. We want to empower and educate women to take part in decision making for their pregnancies and births. We want to serve the local community and give room for inter professional networking.

Due to the Pandemic and lock downs but also because of the slow process of licensing I am struggling financially and urgently need some funding till the Centre can fully function and finance itself.
