On the evening of Wednesday, 24 June 2026, the ground shook twice within just 39 seconds. The two earthquakes reached magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. Entire city blocks collapsed, hospitals were damaged, and power and telephone connections failed across large parts of the country. The coastal city of La Guaira was hit particularly hard. The Venezuelan government declared a state of emergency.

The images in the media can only hint at how devastating the situation truly is. There is a desperate shortage of everything: water, food, medicine and hygiene products.

Campaigns with direct connections to Venezuela

Large aid organisations do important work, yet their help often arrives too late or does not reach smaller communities at all. The following campaigns were started by people who have personal connections to Venezuela. Your donation reaches them directly and can therefore be put to use on the ground quickly.

1. Emergency medical aid for the Hospital Universitario de Caracas

Guido Schütz and his wife Andreina, who is originally from Caracas, lost contact with her daughter and her father for days after the earthquake. Both were in La Guaira when the ground shook. They now know their family is alive. But the need on the ground is immense. The money collected goes directly to their daughter, who uses it to buy medical supplies at local private shops and pharmacies and delivers them personally to the Hospital Universitario de Caracas. To the campaign

2. Drinking water, food and basic supplies for earthquake victims in Venezuela

Sophia Antoniello and the team behind Fundación Tukeke are active on Isla Margarita with an education project and know the situation on the ground well. With this campaign they are sourcing drinking water, non-perishable food, medicine, hygiene products and blankets for families who have been sleeping outdoors since the earthquake. To the campaign

3. Emergency medical aid and support for local volunteers in Venezuela

Cesar Miguel Fernandez Bracho and two Venezuelan friends living in different parts of Germany want to help their home country. They are raising funds for emergency medical supplies and hygiene kits, drinking water and food for flood-affected areas, and direct support for local volunteers on the ground. All expenses are documented with receipts and photos. To the campaign

FAQ on emergency relief in Venezuela

1. Why should I donate through GoodCrowd rather than to large aid organisations?

Large aid organisations do important work, but their help often arrives too late or does not reach smaller communities at all. In Venezuela, where infrastructure has been severely damaged by the earthquake and the state has limited capacity to help, the campaigns here enable direct support through personal contacts on the ground.

2. How do I know the money will actually arrive?

Donations go directly to the campaign starters, who have personal connections to Venezuela and report on how the funds are used in updates. The GoodCrowd team also requests receipts for expenses.

3. How quickly does the money arrive?

Donations are paid out directly to the campaign starters. The exact timing depends on the payment method chosen. Via PayPal, for example, it takes 1 to 3 days.

4. Can I donate from abroad?

Yes, donations are possible from anywhere in the world.
