Experiencing such a world crisis can be scary and frustrating and staying at home can seem like a difficult task to comply with. In times like this we are more inclined to think about the closest circle of our lives (our own health and well-being, family, friends, our home country); we are more inclined to think in a confined way. 😉 But let us think about the impact of this crises on other countries, where people, if not killed by the virus, will die from HUNGER. Through this campaign, let us try to think outside the box and help the people of UGANDA. Money will go to my dear Ugandan friend and contemporary dancer Robert Ssempijja (read his message below!) who is on the spot to provide for some food and basic necessities for Ugandan people in need. Please reflect on this and donate if you can 😊 Love and Namaste -Melina- Call for help in any way possible for the wellness of the Nation - Bulungi Bwansi “Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds…” We do not even know how far reaching this message has been to those in the countryside of Kampala. Most African countries have imposed a lockdown of the mostly informal sector-based economy (representing 85.5% of some country´s economy); the situation is most likely to affect those in the countryside and slums (surviving on a day-by-day basis). As we are waiting for official government communications, those who have any capacity in setting up ways and helping basic necessities reach the poor and the most vulnerable, PLEASE DO SO. If we are to take a lesson from the already affected countries; the disease can spread spontaneously, and it affects mostly those with ongoing illness. With no fixed budget, I am calling upon anyone with any help possible to buy necessities for those with a higher chance to be affected; for the people in slums and in the countryside. Help needed in estimation of the current market price - which is rising every day ($1 = 4000 ug. shs): - Soap (1 bar = 3000 ug. shs.) - Rice (1 kg = 5000 ug. shs.) - Beans (1 kg = 3000 ug. shs.) - Water purifying tablets - Towels to make make shift-masks - Other medical supplies and PPE for example: gloves, masks, goggles and gowns. We have transport means but donations towards fuel would be welcomed too.
