We want to gather support for over 350 elderly grandmothers in rural ugandan villages, who are often alone and suffer from several illnesses, whilst in many cases caring for their abandonend grandchildren.
Mary’s Kasaala Health Centre III in Butuntumula Subcounty, Luwero District supports elderly grandmothers aged 65 years and above with medical care, food, sugar and treatment for chronic illnesses, including HIV, diabetes, and hypertension. Unfortunately their funding was cut, so the program can't continue.
To continue the program, we want to build a sustainable source of income for the program through poultry farming. There is always a high demand for chicken in Uganda, so pultry farming can be a reliable source of income. We also want to buy medical equipment and employ a nurse and a pharmacist in the long term, so the grandmothers can get better support.
Swantje Elisabeth Kalthoff, as german partner of the project, will gather the donations and transfer them to Joackim Butamanya, the ugandan partner. They met during their work for other developmental projects in rural Uganda and are both highly motivated to help people in need.
