Meine Katze Bärbel ist etwas über ein Jahr alt (geboren im Juni 2024) und seit Juni 2025 bei mir. Sie ist verschmust, wild, neugierig, unglaublich mutig und gleichzeitig sehr kuschelbedürftig – kurz gesagt: ein kleines Wesen mit ganz viel Persönlichkeit und Lebensfreude.

Über die Weihnachtszeit kam es völlig unerwartet zu einem Notfall. Ich fand Bärbel apathisch, versteift und in ihrer eigenen Sabber liegend vor. Ohne zu zögern musste ich sie in eine tierärztliche Notarztpraxis bringen. Nach ersten Blutuntersuchungen und zwei Übernachtungen dort wurden wir an eine Tierklinik überwiesen. Dort kam schließlich die Diagnose: ein portosystemischer Lebershunt, eine schwere angeborene Erkrankung der Leber.

Aktuell wird Bärbel mit Antibiotika, speziellem Futter und ganz viel Liebe stabilisiert und aufgepäppelt. Doch das ist nur der erste Schritt. Um ihre langfristige Gesundheit zu sichern, muss als Nächstes ein CT durchgeführt werden. Anschließend ist eine Operation an der Leber notwendig, ohne die sie keine echte Chance auf ein normales, gesundes Leben hat.

Die bisherigen Kosten für Notfallversorgung, Medikamente, Untersuchungen und Klinikaufenthalte belaufen sich bereits auf ca. 2.000 Euro. Für das CT und die notwendige Operation werden voraussichtlich weitere rund 5.000 Euro anfallen.

Leider befinde ich mich aktuell selbst in einer schwierigen finanziellen Lage, da meine Firma kurz vor Weihnachten den Betrieb eingestellt hat und alle Mitarbeiter*innen – inklusive mir – gekündigt wurden. Umso schwerer fällt es mir, um Hilfe zu bitten. Doch für Bärbel möchte ich alles versuchen.

So far, the costs for emergency care, medication, examinations, and hospital stays amount to approximately €2,000. The upcoming CT scan and surgery are expected to cost an additional €5,000.

Unfortunately, I am currently facing financial hardship myself, as my employer shut down operations shortly before Christmas and all employees, including myself, were laid off. Asking for help is not easy, but for Bärbel, I want to do everything possible.
