A devastating war and humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine, threatens lives and livelihoods, driving families apart, and causing mass displacement. Vast number of refugees arrive at Berlin-Hauptbahnhof (main train station) every day, the majority being women with their little children.

Kids Corner’s purpose is twofold. We provide relief to mothers, who have travelled for several days before arriving in Berlin. We offer them a place and support in taking care of their children while they gather information about their next steps or take much-needed breaks. But most importantly, we provide support to the children, by offering them a playful distraction in this stressful situation. 

With the support of your donations we are creating a temporary escape from the trauma of displacement. We look after the kids and are supplying the play area, with playmats, toys and at the crafting table, where children can make bracelets, draw, and make origami with help, instruction, and supervision from our volunteers. Importantly, we also daily purchase and give away toys, board games, crafting and drawing supplies, backpacks, and basic school supplies to equip children and mothers for their ongoing journeys and settlement.

In addition, we also aim at protecting vulnerable women and children from people who may try to take advantage of their situation.There are over 200 volunteers involved in initiatives at Hauptbahnhof, offering their time and resources every day. The group works closely with local authorities and the German Rail Service, Deutsche Bahn, to ensure the work is carried out safely and in accordance with the local regulations.
