Urgent: Help Us Ignite Bugiri's Green Charcoal Future!W

e are dedicated entrepreneurs in Bugiri, Uganda, driven by a mission to address two massive local challenges: mass deforestation and a critical lack of job opportunities for our youth and women. We are ready to launch a solution that tackles both: creating clean, affordable charcoal briquettes from wasted sawdust!

​Like much of Uganda, Bugiri reies heavily on traditional wood charcoal, which drives the rapid cutting of forests around us, causing severe environmental damage. At the same time, our community struggles with high unemployment, making it hard for families to build a stable future.

​Our project changes everything: we take easily available sawdust waste from local mills—a pollutant—and transform it into high-quality, long-burning, sustainable charcoal fuel. This process preserves our trees and creates desperately needed income.

​The Critical Final Hurdle

​We have invested everything we have to get this far! We have already secured a metallic charcoal kiln and made a half-payment on the essential Pini Kay briquette machine from China.

​The machinery is ready, but we have hit a financial dead end. We urgently need UGX 24,000,000 (approximately USD $6,712) to cover the last, non-negotiable costs:

1. ​Final Balance for the Pini Kay Machine: To release the machine from the supplier in China.
2. ​Customs and Clearance Fees: To cover all the taxes, brokerage, and transportation costs required to clear both the kiln and the Pini Kay machine through Ugandan customs and deliver them to our site in Bugiri.

​We are so close! Without this final UGX 24,000,000, our machines will be stuck, and this project—and the stable jobs it promises for Bugiri—will die before it can even begin.
