Liebe Leser:innen, 

wir wenden uns heute im Namen von Efya* an Sie. Efya ist 16 Jahre alt und lebt in Hohoe, im Osten von Ghana nahe der Grenze zu Togo. Vor kurzem hat sie die Junior High School erfolgreich abgeschlossen und hat nun einen Platz an der staatlichen E. P. Senior High School in Hohoe bekommen. 

Staatliche Schulen in Ghana sind generell gebührenfrei, allerdings ist es in vielen Schulen verpflichtend, dass Schüler:innen vor Ort auf dem Schuldgelände leben. Dafür müssen sie eine Wohngebühr von 95 Euro (1500 Cedi) zahlen und einige Utensilien für das Leben dort im Wert von 253 Euro (3600 Cedi) mitbringen. 

Leider ist Efyas Mutter alleinerziehend, gerade selbst in der Ausbildung und kann sich diese Gebühren nicht leisten. Sie haben bereits in ihrer Familie nach Unterstützung gefragt, allerdings konnten sie nur die 1500 Cedi für die Wohngebühr sammeln. 253 Euro (3600 Cedi) für Utensilien (beispielsweise Schuluniform, Bettwäsche, Besteck und Vieles mehr) fehlen ihnen noch. Das Schuljahr hat nun bereits begonnen und Efya kann leider nicht am Unterricht teilnehmen ohne die Gebühren bezahlt zu haben. 

Wir möchten mit dieser Kampagne gerne versuchen die übrigen Gebühren zu decken und es Efya dadurch ermöglichen so schnell wie möglich am Unterricht teilzunehmen.

We are writing to you today on behalf of Efya*. Efya is 16 years old and lives in Hohoe, in eastern Ghana near the border with Togo. She recently graduated from junior high school and has now been accepted to the state-run E. P. Senior High School in Hohoe. 

State schools in Ghana are generally free of charge, but many schools require students to live on campus. To do so, they must pay a boarding prospectus of 95 euros (1500 cedi) and bring some supplies for living there worth 253 euros (3600 cedi). 

Unfortunately, Efya's mother is a single parent who is currently in training herself and cannot afford these fees. They have already asked their family for support and were able to collect the 1500 cedi for the accommodation fee. However, they still need 253 euros (3600 cedi) for supplies (such as school uniforms, bedding, cutlery, and much more). The school year has already begun, and Efya cannot attend classes without paying the fees. 

With this appeal for donations, we would like to try to cover the remaining fees and enable Efya to attend classes as soon as possible.
