In a cramped, weathered nylon tent in central Gaza, where days blur under the scorching heat, dust, and constant hum of drones, 9-year-old Maryam Dawas lies on a thin blanket against the bare earth. She weighs no more than an infant. When her father, Abdul Aziz, gently lifts her fragile frame each night to shift her position, his heart shatters at how light she has become just delicate bones beneath paper-thin skin, her faint, rapid heartbeat visible against her tiny chest. Before the war, Maryam was a vibrant schoolgirl who filled her home with laughter and raced her 14-year-old brother, Mahmoud, through the streets. Today, she is too weak to speak. Her wide, sunken eyes stare silently at the torn tent ceiling, pleading for relief she cannot voice, as her mother, Medlala, gently wets her cracked lips with drops of salty water and a pinch of sugar. In the corner of the same tent, 1-year-old twin baby brothers Mohammad and Sami cry relentlessly from hunger, leaving their father paralyzed between searching for infant formula he cannot afford and the terror of leaving Maryam s side for even a moment. Maryam is not just sick; her body is being slowly consumed by severe starvation, lack of medicine, and extreme deprivation. In a makeshift displacement camp without clean water or specialized care, her survival is a miracle fading with each passing hour. Field doctors have run out of resources, unable to offer anything to a child who desperately needs therapeutic food and immediate hospital treatment. Maryam is running out of time, but her life can still be saved.
