Die Oberschule Pausa (Vogtland/Sachsen) unterhält seit einem Jahr eine Schulpartnerschaft zur Bastion High School in Kampala (Uganda).

Uganda ist ein Land am Äquator auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent. Die Menschen sind freundlich, offen und warmherzig! Bildung ist in diesem Land ein großes Privileg, da sie zu 100 % abhängig ist von den finanziellen Mitteln der Eltern. Im Schnitt kann sich eine Familie mit acht Kindern nur ein bis zwei Schulausbildungen für ihre Kinder leisten. Alle anderen Kinder werden wohl nie eine Schule besuchen können.

Die Bastion High School hat durch einen Spendenlauf, organisiert durch den Förderverein der Schule Pausa, im vergangenen Jahr Geld erhalten, wovon neue Schultoiletten gebaut und ein Teil der Schulküche saniert werden konnten. Ich konnte mir in den zurückliegenden Wochen durch die Teilnahme an einer Sozialreise mit der AG Quicklebendig aus Pausa selber ein Bild von der Bastion High School machen: eine quirlige Schülerschaft (ca. 1000 Jungen und Mädchen) mit einer sehr begeisterungsfähigen Tanz- und einer mitreißenden Trommelgruppe.

Um das Potential der Schülerinnen und Schüler zu nutzen und um Musik praktisch zu Unterrichts- und Unterhaltungszwecken zu vermitteln, beabsichtigt die Schule, allen voran Schulleiter Musa Sebunya, eine Brass-Band mit Blech- bzw. Holzblasinstrumenten und einer Rhythmusgruppe zu gründen.

Die Trommeln (Embuutu und Engalabi) sind funktionsfähig und werden weiterhin eingesetzt. Es fehlen ein E-Piano und weitere Instrumente:

• 3 Posaunen
• 1 Tuba
• 2 Altsaxophone
• 2 Tenorsaxophone
• 1 Bass-Trommel
• 1 kleine Trommel
• 2 Becken

Dafür wird ein Startkapital benötigt, um Instrumente zu kaufen.

Das Spendenziel sind 5.000 EUR. Das Geld wird entweder vom Schulkonto der Oberschule Pausa direkt an die Schule überwiesen oder hier in Deutschland für den Kauf verwendet. Instrumente werden entweder vor Ort oder in Deutschland erworben und im Anschluss versandt.

Eine Instrumentalausbildung für die Schüler ist sichergestellt.

Oberschule Pausa (Vogtland/Saxony) has been twinned with Bastion High School in Kampala (Uganda) for a year now.

Uganda is a country on the equator on the African continent. The people are friendly, open and warm-hearted! Education is a great privilege in this country, as it is 100% dependent on the financial means of the parents. On average, a family with eight children can only afford one or two school educations for their children. All other children will probably never be able to attend school.

Bastion High School received money last year through a charity run organised by the Pausa School Support Association, which was used to build new school toilets and renovate part of the school kitchen. In recent weeks, I was able to see Bastion High School for myself by taking part in a social trip with the AG Quicklebendig group from Pausa: a lively student body (approx. 1000 boys and girls) with a very enthusiastic dance group and a rousing drum group.

In order to utilise the potential of the pupils and to teach music practically for teaching and entertainment purposes, the school, led by headmaster Musa Sebunya, intends to form a brass band with brass and woodwind instruments and a rhythm section.

The drums (embuutu and engalabi) are in working order and will continue to be used. An electric piano and other instruments are missing. Start-up capital is needed to buy instruments.

The donation target is EUR 5,000. The money will either be transferred directly from the Pausa secondary school account to the school or used here in Germany for the purchase. Instruments are either purchased locally or in Germany and then dispatched.

Instrumental training for the pupils is guaranteed.
