Description

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Champions of Compassion,

My name is Henry Ngwena, and I am honored to serve as the leader of the Tanzania Vegan Community and an active vegan activist dedicated to transforming lives and saving innocent animals. Over the past few years, I have poured my heart, soul, and resources into promoting veganism across our country—a mission born out of love for animals, a commitment to environmental sustainability, and a desire to improve the health and well-being of our people.

Since 2022, I have been tirelessly working on grassroots initiatives—recruiting and supporting volunteers to educate communities about the cruelty inflicted upon animals and the immense benefits of plant-based living. This journey has been both rewarding and arduous—costly, indeed. I have personally sacrificed much, selling my belongings such as my laptop, bicycle, radio, rice cooker, and even a water pump generator, all to keep these efforts alive. I have undertaken this without support from corporations, organizations, or government bodies. As a farmer, my income is limited, but my conviction remains unwavering.

My mission is clear: to ensure that truthful, compassionate, and impactful information reaches our people about the atrocities faced by animals in our cultural practices and industries. I believe education is the key to awakening empathy and inspiring sustainable change. Through volunteer-led efforts, I have seen hope—individuals opening their hearts, communities questioning harmful traditions, and a growing interest in vegan lifestyles. I truly believe that, together, we can foster a more compassionate Tanzania.

Today, I humbly ask for your support to elevate this movement. The upcoming “Vegan Street Festival” in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, is more than just an event; it is a catalyst for change. It is an opportunity to reach hundreds, thousands, perhaps millions of Tanzanians—showing that compassion and sustainability can be celebrated openly in our streets, homes, and hearts.

This festival will be a vibrant celebration of local culture, global awareness, and heartfelt activism—featuring delicious plant-based foods, artistic expressions, educational workshops, and advocacy for animal welfare. With your help, we can expand this vision—securing a larger venue, providing better food options, hosting live performances, and incorporating eco-friendly activities.

The funds we seek—£5000—will be used transparently and directly to make this festival a reality:

-Venue Rental and Logistics; Ensuring a spacious, accessible location to accommodate our growing community.

-Food and Beverages: Offering diverse, delicious plant-based options to attract and satisfy attendees.

-Live Performances and Cultural Activities: Engaging local artists and performers to inspire and entertain.

- Educational Workshops and Outreach: Providing informative sessions about animal rights, environmental sustainability, and health.

-Eco-friendly Initiatives; Implementing sustainable practices to minimize our environmental footprint.

- Promotion and Outreach; Creating awareness through local media, flyers, and social media campaigns.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will be a beacon of hope for countless animals suffering silently—many of whom are socially or religiously marginalized, such as pigs, cats, and dogs. Profits from this festival will also go towards establishing Tanzania’s first sanctuary for these socially unacceptable animals—giving them the love, care, and freedom they deserve.

This is my last hope to make this dream a reality. As an unemployed vegan activist dependent on seasonal farming, I face immense challenges—rejections from organizations and companies I once believed would support us have been heartbreaking. Many vegan friends are eager to participate and support this event, but without funding, we risk losing this vital platform to share our message, educate locals, and build a strong foundation for veganism in Africa.

If I fail, I fear I may have to give up—a prospect I cannot accept, for this cause is my life. I urge you to stand with me, to believe in the power of compassion, and to help us create a ripple effect of kindness and change across Tanzania.

Your support—financial, volunteer, or simply sharing this message—will make a profound difference. Together, we can turn this vision into reality and create a legacy of love, justice, and sustainability for generations to come.

Join us in this movement. Be part of the Vegan Street Revolution. Help us give a voice to the voiceless and plant the seeds of compassion in the heart of Africa.

With hope and deepest gratitude,

Henry Ngwena

Leader of Tanzania Vegan Community & Activist
