Hello family and friends, This year, I would like to go to Bolivia and do a voluntary social year. I would be working in Santa Cruz at the "Fundacion Niño Feliz". The "Fundacion Niño Feliz" is an is a NGO that supports children in need in their familial environment in their three basic needs of nutrition, health and holistic education. Approximately 970 children and adolescents receive daily lunch, medical care and are financially supported from pre-school to university through sponsorships and scholarships. There are a total of five comedores with dining halls, where the children and adolescents can have lunch. The foundation's headquarters also include a psychotherapeutic and a socio-pedagogical facility, as well as a Centro Medico, which offers several departments such as pediatrics, gynecology, dental and general care, and a special program for diabetic patients. Niño Feliz also offers the children and adolescents tutoring and many extracurricular activities such as orchestra, choir, theater, guitar and art classes. The goal is to strengthen their self-confidence and keep them from living on the street. With the holistic education, the foundation wants to enable them to have better opportunities in later working life and also contribute to the long-term improvement of their living conditions. I will be working as a lunchtime assistant in one of the comedores, giving lunch to the children and assisting them as they eat, possibly feeding them and taking care of them. I will also be an assistant to teachers during tutoring, help out in the Centro Medico and with the accounting of the foundation. Additionally, I will help with the handing out of school supplies and uniforms and designing of Christmas cards. I may also plan and organize my own smaller projects with and for the children and adolescents. But to be able to do this I need money.
