Dear all, we hope that you see this message in good health. We are closing this fundraiser now. Because of all the donations here, we have been able to construct a water tap, that significantly bettered the conditions of our community compound in the past months. It contributes to our safety and the health of not only our queer compound but also other queer youth in Kakuma that had dofficulties to get safe access to water. We want to express our heartfelt gratefulness to all of the donors that contributed this. Sadly the situation has become worse in the past weeks. Homophobic attacks have increased heavily. The Kenyan government recently decided to stop support to queer refugees. Discrimination for example in access to health has since been at a peak towards queer refugees in Kakuma. This is an incredibly precarious situation for us. We have thus sadly decided to as fast as possible evacuate Kakuma camp to South Sudan. We try to transport all members of our queer youth compound to South Sudan, for a safer perspective. At the moment we see this as our only chance for a safer life. Since we do not have the money to pay for the safe evacuation of all of our community members, we decided to ask our comerades in Germany to set up a new fundraiser for us. We are thus reaching out again for support. If you can we are grateful for any kind of support here: https://www.betterplace.me/urgent-evacuation-of-lgbtq-refugees-from-kakuma We will make sure that the compound with the water tap will - if we are not there anymore - profit other marginalized refugees in Kakuma. As water remains essential for the autonomy of people there. Thank you once again for everyone who supported us! We truly appreciate it. Warm regards, Queer Youth Kakuma
