Though it is not possible to accurately predict, the majority of children (approximately 95%) life expectancy is less than 18 months. Yagizege has not received the medication that he needs every 4 month (Spinaraza - Nursinersen). Therefore he has difficulty breathing, and his condition is extremely urgent and critical.

The good news is that there is a treatment available that is proven to be effective. Yagizege would need to travel to the US to receive gene therapy with a medicine called Zolgensma . Zolgensma is the most expensive drug ever approved by the FDA. The cost of this treatment is 2.3 million Dollars.
