Gemeinsam für ASOMOBIs Frauen und Familien in einem Tourismusdorf in Costa Rica

ASOMOBI ist eine gemeinnützige Frauenorganisation aus Biolley, einem kleinen Bergdorf im Süden des zentralamerikanischen Urlaubslandes Costa Rica. Seit der Gründung in 1997 arbeiten die Frauen in der Kaffee-Rösterei, dem Verkauf von Kaffee und dem Hotel für nationale und internationale wanderbegeisterte Tourist*innen, um die Versorgung ihrer Familien zu gewährleisten und stärken damit die Unabhängigkeit der Frau. Somit setzen sie ein Zeichen gegen den weit verbreiteten Machismo im Land.

In der aktuellen Corona-Krise muss das Hotel geschlossen bleiben und die Nachfrage nach Kaffee ist gegen Null gesunken, sodass die Festangestellten der Organisation keine Arbeit und damit keinerlei Einkommen mehr haben. Aber auch die anderen der 36 Mitglieder von ASOMOBI, die "Socias" und ihre Familienmitglieder, die stundenweise im Betrieb arbeiten, haben nun mit dem Einbruch dieser Einnahmequelle zu kämpfen. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit werden alle Reserven aufgebraucht sein und die Familien werden selbst für Lebensmittel nicht ausreichend Geld haben.

Wir, Kathi, Flori, Julia, Mara und Samanta, junge Erwachsene aus unterschiedlichen Ecken in Deutschland, haben die Organisation seit 2014 in 5 Generationen jeweils für rund ein ganzes Jahr in einem entwicklungspolitischen Freiwilligendienst über Brot für die Welt erleben dürfen und fühlen uns mit den Frauen und Familien im Dorf eng verbunden.

Deshalb haben wir jetzt dieses Projekt ins Leben gerufen und bitten Sie: Unterstützen Sie uns dabei mit einer Spende, um die Existenz dieser Familien in Biolley zu sichern!

In enger Absprache mit dem Vorstand der Assoziation setzen wir uns dafür ein, dass das Geld direkt bei den bedürftigen Familien landet. Ob durch den Kauf von Küken zur Zucht von Hühnern und damit zur Eierproduktion, den Erwerb von Pflanzensetzlingen für den lokalen Gemüseanbau oder die finanzielle Deckung der Kosten für fließend Wasser und Strom der Familien - wir halten Sie über unseren Newsletter auf dem Laufenden.

Juntos para las mujeres y familias de ASOMOBI de un pueblo turístico en Costa Rica

ASOMOBI es una organización sin fines de lucro, integrada por mujeres de Biolley, un pequeño pueblo rural en el sur del país centroamericano, el cual es conocido a nivel mundial por su actividad turística y por su producción de café de primera clase. Desde su fundación en 1997, estas mujeres han estado trabajando en el tostado y venta de café, y en una posada rural para turistas nacionales e internacionales. De este modo han logrado garantizar el sustento de sus familias y fortalecer la independencia de las mujeres. Con su trabajo y dedicación son un ejemplo de lucha por la igualdad de género el el país.

Debido a la crisis del Coronavirus, el hotel debe permanecer cerrado y las organizaciones que compraban el café ya no compran más. Como consecuencia no hay trabajo para la organización y, por lo tanto, no hay ingresos. Ahora las 36 socias de ASOMOBI, que trabajan temporalmente en la organización, tienen que luchar contra la disminución de ingresos. En poco tiempo a las familias no les alcanzarán los alimentos y el dinero que tienen para subsistir.  

Nosotras, Kathi, Flori, Julia, Mara y Samanta, jóvenes de diferentes regiones de Alemania, hemos podido conocer y trabajar con la organización en cinco generaciones desde 2014, por medio de un servicio de voluntariado a través de la organización alemana Pan Para el Mundo. En este tiempo hemos desarrollado lazos de amistad con ellas y sus familias en el pueblo.

Es por eso que ahora hemos iniciado este proyecto y pedimos su ayuda.

En conjunto con la Junta Directiva de la asociación, haremos todo lo posible para que el dinero llegue directamente a las familias necesitadas, ya sea a través de la compra de polluelos para la cría de pollos y, por lo tanto, para la producción de huevos, la adquisición de plántulas para el cultivo local de vegetales o la cobertura financiera de los costos de agua y electricidad para las familias. Together for ASOMOBI's women and families in a small touristic town in Costa Rica

ASOMOBI is a non-profit organization made up of the women of Biolley, a small rural town in the southern part of Costa Rica known worldwide for eco-friendly tourism and excellent coffee production. Since ASOMOBI’s founding in 1997, these women have been working in roasting and selling coffee as well as in operating a rural lodge and tourist activities for national and international visitors. Through their hard work, the founders and members of ASOMOBI have been able to improve the livelihoods of their families and strengthen their independence as women in the community. Their dedication and bravery is an example to counteract the country’s machismo attitudes.

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, the lodge must remain closed and coffee sales have drastically decreased. Consequently, there is no work for the members of ASOMOBI and therefore, no income. Now, the 36 members must fight against the loss of income, and their families will struggle to have enough food and money to survive. 

We, Kathi, Flori, Julia, Mara, and Samanta, are young women from different regions in Germany, and we have been able to meet and work with the women of ASOMOBI since 2014 through a German volunteer organization called Bread for the World. During our time in Biolley, we developed strong, lasting friendships with the women and their families. 

Because of the relationships we have formed with them, we started this project.

And now we ask you to please help us with a donation to ensure the livelihoods of these families in Biolley!

With ASOMOBI’s Board of Directors, we work closely together in order to ensure that all donations go directly to families in need, either for the purchase of chickens to produce eggs, seeds to grow fruits and vegetables, or financial assistance to cover water and electricity bills.
