My name is Ines Vasku, and I'm 33 years old. I started this crowdfunding initiative to raise funds to purchase a Maxi Caddy or a bus to transport my wheelchair and me.I suffer from multiple sclerosis and have had breast cancer. I also have an immune disorder that prevents my immune system from responding properly to illness. This makes me constantly vulnerable to infections, pneumonia, and other health problems. I've been struggling with these challenges for 15 years, and it's now become almost impossible to manage my numerous doctor's appointments in a regular car.I've suffered from severe depression since I was 16, requiring regular therapy and hospitalization. I've been a palliative care patient for many years because I'm allergic to all MS medications. My condition is untreatable and could become life-threatening at any time. I'm now almost bedridden and can only leave the house for my appointments. Walking and standing are barely possible anymore, and even sitting in a wheelchair causes unbearable back pain.About a year ago, we received a donation from the Round Table and Lions Club to purchase a trailer for my large wheelchair, making longer trips possible. Unfortunately, no one – neither my parents nor I – could have predicted that my physical condition would deteriorate to the point where getting into a regular car would now be almost impossible. Even the doctors couldn't predict it – neither that it would happen so quickly nor, in principle, that it would happen at all.We are nevertheless very grateful for the donation to purchase the trailer. While it helps us a lot, in its current state, it unfortunately no longer solves the problem of getting in and out. Even if we can only purchase a used Maxi Caddy through donations, we still need the trailer for my transfer wheelchair – so it wasn't a pointless purchase.As I said, the problem of getting in and out can only be solved with a wheelchair ramp, which, however, doesn't fit in our current car. We also fully understand that the current organizations cannot provide financial support again in such a short time – that would be unfair to other people seeking help.I currently spend most of my time in bed. Our current car is a regular car; on the last few trips, I've literally fallen out or even failed when trying to get in because I lack the strength in my legs. This causes me great pain and requires enormous effort for my parents to lift me back into the wheelchair. Attempts with slide boards or similar aids have failed because I simply lack the necessary strength.Although I undergo weekly physical and occupational therapy, my legs will never be fully able to bear weight again.A new Maxi Caddy costs around €50,000; a bus costs even more. Furthermore, the wheelchair-accessible conversion is not fully funded. We are therefore looking for a well-maintained Maxi Caddy with few kilometers on the clock or a bus – or for donations of around €60,000.Such a vehicle would significantly improve my life: It would allow my parents to take me on trips and give me some quality of life again. The car must have an automatic transmission, as my mother can only drive an automatic due to a finger amputation; a trailer hitch would also be desirable.I would be infinitely grateful for any support in acquiring such a vehicle or in reaching my financial goal! I've already been through so much in my life; this vehicle would give me a small glimmer of hope – because right now, I'm more or less confined to my home.My parents are doing their best: My mother had breast cancer herself and was almost unable to work due to the damage caused by chemotherapy. She stays at home with me because of my high level of care; despite the state of Lower Austria determining that I'm only 10% fit for work, she does more than many regular 24-hour caregivers could.
