Dear all,
This message is from Beat, Ema, Grog and Lamia.
We are planning a trip to Bosnia Herzegovina in february 2022, to support the local structures for people on the move and audiovisually document the actual situation at the border!
After the so-called old Balkan route between Hungary and Serbia and between Hungary and Croatia was interrupted in March 2016, a western route between Bosnia and Croatia was established. At this border, the situation for refugees is now becoming increasingly difficult. In 16,000 cases in 2020, and 1,245 in August 2021 only, the Croatian police and the European “border guard agency” Frontex carried out illegal push-backs operated with EU funds. In doing so, they violate applicable EU law and the cornerstones of the Geneva Convention. Refugees are being pushed back to Bosnia with the use of force, refusal of medical assistance and manhunts.
As Ema was living in Sarajevo for four years, she knows about the situation on the european borderline of Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia for people searching asylum, which is urgent since years and getting worse now.
In 2019, Grog was living six months in Bosnia and Herzegovina, working as volunteer in a group called "basis" in Sarajevo, but also with other organizations, people on the move, migrants, asylum seekers and immigrants.
Beat has been implementing projects with refugees in Germany since 2015 (https://beatrixe.space/design). As a media artist he works with 360° recording technology and wants to portray people and projects on this trip, to create attention for their realities, as there is not so much news about the current border situation in the European media.
Lamia from Sarajevo is a close friend and was working in journalistic research around the borderline situation the last years. She will introduce us to places close to the push back spots and contact local people.
In two weeks we will travel together again to Bosnia and Herzegovina and visit Velika Kladuša, Bihać and Sarajevo. On the ground, we want to get in touch with those people who cannot cross the border, as well as with the NGOs and locals who have been dealing with this issue for years. We want to get to know their reality in order to make their voices heard and stories visible via the internet and at the Documenta 15 in Kassel, to give the reality of refugees a platform and raise attention for their unbearable situation.
We act out of solidarity and want to draw attention to the violent situation in EU territories.
Before our departure on february 10. we want to raise money for buying most needed things. We plan to buy these things in Bosnia Herzegovina on site to support the local markets.
This money will be splitted between the NGO's blind spots and no name kitchen, which are wokring on the field. We are aiming to split the funding in same parts, but also want to be able to react flexible on the needs and our analytics in the field. We will take a fair part of the money to pay the cost of the trip (Berlin to Velika Kladusa), this means a maximum of ten percent. And finally; we are super hopeful to reach our funding aim together, but in the case that more money is collected we are more than happy and we will threat the sum in the same responsible way!
After our return we will therefore create an exact overview of the finances. If you want to stay informed about this, or you have questions, send us an email to:
Those things are urgently needed to help people on the move to cross the borders:
Above listed objects can be sent to following address:

Don´t hesitate to send us donations even if we are leaving soon (10.02). Once sent to us, we will responsibly hand over the stuff to one of the NGO storages in Berlin.
Please help to reach our aim, please help to support people on the move and groups who fight our inhumane borderline situations!

Liebe Menschen,
