In seven weeks, we will be back in Greece. Then, the highest Greek court will hear Homayoun Sabetara's case. Like over 2,000 other migrants in Greece, Homayoun has been criminalised for alleged smuggling. We want to set a precedent that this is unacceptable. To achieve this, we need your support. We currently need around €4,000 to cover the court costs. If you can, please help us by donating by 19 September and spreading the word about the case. For the freedom of Homayoun and all criminalised migrants. Free Homayoun! Free them all!

#FreeHomayoun before the Supreme Court
Mahtab Sabetara · 19.09.2025
Today, on 19 September, Homayoun Sabetara's case was heard before Greece's highest court, the Areios Pagos. In addition to the inadmissible witness testimony, the court will also examine the fact that Homayoun has been recognised as an asylum seeker, as well as five other grounds for appeal that argue in favour of an acquittal. These arguments strengthen Homayoun Sabetara's position. This trial is not only crucial for Homayoun's case, but also for many similar cases. For the first time, two grounds for appeal are being examined that have never before been heard before this court. The ruling is expected in three to six months.

Supreme Court hearing postponed to 19.09.2025!
Mahtab Sabetara · 28.03.2025
We are not surprised that after the cancellation of the first announced date at the Supreme Court in March, there is again a waiting period of six months. During this time, Homayoun must continue to report to the police station in Thessaloniki every month. He will continue to be unable to be with his children, who live in Berlin. And until then, he must continue to fear for his right to stay in Europe.Help us to raise awareness that Homayoun is one of more than 2,000 people in Greece alone who are affected by this criminalization as so-called “smugglers”. Please also help us to collect the legal costs for Homayoun, because his case can set an example for so many other affected people. Let's show that the dubious accusations and unfair convictions of people seeking protection are untenable. We will take Homayoun's case all the way to his acquittal! For the freedom of Homayoun and all people who are criminalized for “smuggling”.Free Homayoun! Free them all!
