Guten Tag an alle Spender*innen und Interessierte!
Wir möchten heute einige unserer Gedanken über Nachhaltigkeit mit Ihnen teilen.
Sensibilisiert u.a. durch unseren entwicklungspolitischen Freiwilligendienst, ist dies ein wichtiges Thema für uns und insbesondere für unser Spendenprojekt. Wir diskutieren viel über die zentrale Frage, welche Unterstützung wirklich nachhaltig ist. Unser Ziel ist es nämlich, etwas zu bewirken, das auch auf längere Zeit eine anhaltende Wirkung zeigt.
Gleichzeitig ist unsere Spendenaktion, in der es darum geht, die wirtschaftlichen Folgen dieser momentanen Krise zu dämpfen, zeitlich begrenzt und nicht als dauerhafte Spendensammlung gedacht.
In unserer ersten Phase, in der Küken und Legehennen an die Familien verteilt werden konnten, ist es sicher fraglich, ob dies wirklich einen langfristigen Effekt hat oder ob es sich eher um eine Soforthilfe-Aktion handelt. Wir haben uns dennoch gemeinsam mit dem Vorstand von ASOMOBI bewusst dafür entschieden. Obwohl es in einem gewissen Maße als Überbrückung in der akuten Situation angesehen werden kann, ist es auch eine längerfristige Unterstützung für die Familien: Es wurden Tiere verteilt, die auch in Zukunft weiter gezüchtet werden können.
Wir finden es wichtig, dass keine Abhängigkeit entsteht und womöglich bestehen bleibt. In Gesprächen mit den Frauen aus ASOMOBI wird klar, dass auch sie selbst großen Wert darauf legen. Wir haben uns deshalb dafür entschieden, den engen Kontakt weiter zu pflegen, um so genau das umsetzen zu können, was aus ihrer Sicht am nachhaltigsten ist. Auch wenn wir viele Monate in Biolley verbracht haben, möchten wir uns nicht anmaßen entscheiden zu können, was dort in einer durch Corona ausgelösten Ausnahmesituation benötigt wird.
Inzwischen hat sich herauskristallisiert, dass es sehr unterschiedliche Bedürfnisse der Socias von ASOMOBI gibt. Darum haben wir uns entschieden die nächste Phase größer auszulegen. Es soll ein größerer Geldbetrag auf einmal genutzt werden. Wahlweise sollen sich die Socias zwischen einer Unterstützung für den Bau von Hochbeeten zum Anpflanzen von Gemüse für den eigenen Bedarf, Pflanzung von Obstbäumen, oder die individuelle Unterstützung von persönlichen Kleinunternehmen entscheiden können.
Aber warum gerade ASOMOBI und kein lokales Projekt?
Ein Mitglied unseres Teams sagte in einem Gespräch einmal: „Wenn ich zu einem deutschen Projekt so enge Kontakte und Freundschaften hätte wie zu ASOMOBI, hätte ich ebenfalls eine Spenden-Kampagne gestartet." Das drückt ganz gut aus, wie wir uns hiermit fühlen -- das Projekt ist aus Verbundenheit mit den Socias entstanden und soll keine entwilcklungspolitische Arbeit leisten.
Wir hoffen, Sie können unsere Gedanken und Bemühungen nachvollziehen und sich noch etwas gedulden, bis die nächste Phase realisiert werden kann. Über inhaltliche Rückmeldung freuen wir uns -- an uns privat oder über die Kontaktmöglichkeiten dieser Seite.

Hoy nos gustaría compartir con ustedes algunas de nuestras ideas sobre sostenibilidad.
Especialmente con nuestro voluntariado en política de desarrollo sostenible, nos percatamos de lo importante que es este tema y precisamente para nuestro proyecto de donación. Discutimos mucho sobre el tema central de qué apoyo es realmente sostenible. Nuestro objetivo es lograr algo que tenga un efecto duradero por un largo período de tiempo.
Al mismo tiempo, nuestra campaña, que trata de aminorar las consecuencias económicas de esta crisis actual, es limitada en el tiempo y no pretende ser un proyecto permanente de recaudación de fondos.
En nuestra primera fase, cuando los polluelos y las gallinas ponedoras se distribuyeron a las familias, se podría preguntar si esto realmente tiene un efecto a largo plazo o si se trata más de una campaña de ayuda de emergencia. Sin embargo, junto con la junta directiva de ASOMOBI, tomamos la decisión de hacerlo. Aunque en cierta medida puede verse como un apoyo para sobrellevar de una mejor manera la difícil situación, también es un apoyo de larga duración para las familias: Se distribuyeron animales que se pueden continuar cuidando.
Consideramos importante que no haya dependencia y que esto pueda mantenerse así. En las conversaciones con las mujeres de ASOMOBI, queda claro que ellas mismas atribuyen gran importancia a esto también. Por lo tanto, hemos decidido continuar manteniendo un estrecho contacto para poder implementar exactamente lo que ellas creen que es lo más sostenible. Aunque hemos pasado muchos meses en Biolley, no podemos permitirnos pensar que sabemos qué se necesita allí en esta situación excepcional desencadenada por el coronavirus.
Mientras tanto, ha quedado claro que hay necesidades muy diferentes entre las socias de ASOMOBI. Es por eso que decidimos ampliar la siguiente fase. Para eso se utiliza una mayor cantidad de dinero a la vez. Las socias pueden elegir entre el apoyo para la construcción de huertas, la plantación de árboles frutales o el apoyo individual para pequeños emprendimientos personales.
Pero ¿por qué especialmente ASOMOBI y no un proyecto local?
Una miembro de nuestro equipo dijo una vez en una conversación: "Si hubiera tenido contactos y amistades tan cercanas con un proyecto alemán, también habría comenzado una campaña de donación." Eso expresa muy bien cómo nos sentimos nosotras con este proyecto. Este proyecto nació de nuestra conexión con las socias y no pretende ser un trabajo en políticas de desarrollo.

Hello to all our donors and others interested in our project!
Today we would like to share some of our ideas about sustainability.
From our experiences volunteering in sustainable development policy, we realize how important this is, especially for our donation project. We have had many discussions centered around this issue of what type of support is truly sustainable. Our goal is to achieve something that has a long-lasting impact.
At the same time, our current campaign is meant to reduce the economic challenges of the current crisis and is not intended as a permanent fundraising project.
In our first phase, when the laying hens and chicks were distributed to the families, you may have wondered if this really had a long-term effect or if it was more of an emergency aid campaign. Together with ASOMOBI’s board members, we made the decision to purchase hens and chicks not only to help the families cope during a difficult situation but also to provide resources that can continue to sustain the families into the future.
We believe it is important that there is no dependency and neither persists. In talking with the women of ASOMOBI, they also consider this very important. Therefore, we continue to maintain close contact in order to implement exactly what they believe will be the most sustainable. Although we have all spent many months in Biolley, we cannot assume to know what is needed during this exceptional situation triggered by the pandemic.
Meanwhile, it has become clear that there are different needs among the members of ASOMOBI. That is why we have decided to extend the next phase to collect more money. Members can choose between support for constructing orchards, planting fruit trees, or small personal ventures.
But why not a local project?
A member of our team once said in a conversation: "If I had such close contacts and friendships with a German project, I would also have started a donation campaign." That expresses very well how we feel with this -- the project has arisen from our solidarity with the Socias and is no development work.

Guten Tag!
Nachdem wir uns schon mehrfach bei allen Spender*innen für die großzügige Unterstützung bedankt haben, geht unser Dank heute in eine ganz andere Richtung. Eine solche Spendenaktion bedarf großen organisatorischen Aufwandes. Häufig klang es in unseren Publikationen so, als wären nur wir deutschen ehemaligen Freiwilligen für alles verantwortlich. Dem ist aber in keinster Weise so. Wir möchten an dieser Stelle unseren herzlichen Dank vor allem an Óscar ausrichten. Er kommt selbst aus Biolley und macht dieses Jahr seinen Freiwilligendienst in Deutschland. Gerade in der schwierigen Zeit von Corona hat er uns tatkräftig bei der Organisation des Projektes und insbesondere den professionellen Übersetzungen all unser Texte ins Spanische geholfen. Auch die Neuigkeiten über die aktuelle Lage konnten nur durch seine aufmerksame Medienverfolgung verfasst werden. Muchísimas gracias, Óscar!
Ein weiterer herzlicher Dank geht an Geovanna und Ángela, beide Socias von ASOMOBI. Sie beide haben die ganze Aktion über in engem Kontakt mit uns gestanden. Sie haben geduldig alle Fragen zu Möglichkeiten der Unterstützung und Gerechtigkeit in der Verteilung angehört und beantwortet und vor allem die Organisation vor Ort in die Hand genommen. Schließlich ist Teil unseres Teams noch Laura aus den USA. Sie hat ebenfalls eine Zeit in ASOMOBI verbracht und durch den Kontakt zu ihr konnten wir perfekte englische Texte veröffentlichen. Wir danken ihr für ihre unermüdliche Übersetzungarbeit teils von heute auf morgen. Thank you so much, Laura!
Zuletzt natürlich auch Danke an alle anderen Menschen, die uns unterstützt haben. Ein Agrar-Ingeneur aus Costa Rica, Fahrer für die Transportfahren und die vielen Menschen, die uns in den anstrengenden Phasen des Projekts ermutigt haben nicht aufzugeben!

¡Buenos días! Después de haber agradecido varias veces a todos nuestros donantes por su gran apoyo, hoy queremos mandar las gracias a otra direción. Una campaña de donaciones como esta requiere mucho esfuerzo para organizarla. En nuestras publicaciones muchas veces sonaba, como si nosotras, las voluntarias alemanas somos responsables de todo. Pero eso no es cierto. En este lugar le queremos mandar nuestro agradecimiento cordial a Óscar. Él es de Biolley y ha estado en Alemania haciendo su voluntariado este año. Justamente en este tiempo difícil de Corona él nos ayudó activamente en la organización del proyecto y sobre todo en las traducciones profesionales de nuestros textos al español. Además las noticias sobre la situación actual en Costa Rica se pudieron escribir solamente con su seguimiento atento de la prensa local. ¡Vielen herzlichen Dank, Óscar!
Otro agradecimiento queremos mandar a Geovanna y Ángela, las dos son socias de ASOMOBI. Ellas dos están en contacto con nosotras durante toda la campaña. After we have thanked all donors several times for their generous support, our thanks goes in a completely different direction today. A fundraising campaign like this requires a lot oforganizational effort! In our publications it often sounded as if only we former volunteers from Germany were responsible for everything. But this is in fact not the way it worked. At this point we would really like to express paritculary our sincere and deepest thanks to Óscar. He is from Biolley and is in his voluntary service in Germany this year. Especially in the difficult time of Corona, he actively helped us with the organization of the project and especially with the professional translations of all our texts into Spanish. Furthermore all the news about the current situation in Costa Rica could only have been written with the help of his attentive media follow-up. Muchísimas gracias, Óscar!
Another big THANK YOU goes to Geovanna and Ángela, both socias of ASOMOBI. Both have been in close contact with us throughout the whole campaign. They patiently listened to and answered all our questions about the possibilities of support and fairness in distribution and, above all, took charge of the organization in Biolley. Not to forget, Laura from the USA is part of our team. She also spent time at ASOMOBI and, as we have been in steady contact with her, we could have been able to publish perfect English texts. We thank her for her tireless translation work, even from one day to the other. Thank you so much, Laura!
Finally, of course, thanks to all the other people who have supported us. An agricultural engineer from Costa Rica, drivers for the transports and many people who have encouraged us not to give up during the exhausting phases of the project!

Liebe Spender*innen, wir können Ihnen heute mitteilen, dass vom Spendengeld erneut individuell eine Socia von ASOMOBI unterstützt werden konnte. Es geht um Doña Hortensia, eine der Gründungsmitglieder der Organisation. Bei ihr entwickelt sich in der Hand eine sogenannte Dupuytren-Kontraktur, eine Erkrankung der Sehnen, die durch Verkürzung zu einer schmerzhaften Beugestellung der Finger kommt und die Hand stark funktionseinschränkt. In ihrer Familie und im Freundeskreis sammelt sie Geld für die Operation, die aufgrund einer akuten Verschlechterung zeitnah durchgeführt werden muss und wir unterstützen sie darin mit 50.000 colones (ca. 80 Euro). Danke an Sie als Spender*innen!
Doch heute haben wir auch eine weitere Ankündigung: Das Spendenprojekt neigt sich dem Ende entgegen. Wir werden die Sammelaktion am 25.09. beenden. Bis dahin möchten wir Sie noch ein letztes Mal ermutigen, selbst als Spender*in aktiv zu werden oder Freund*innen und Bekannte zu motivieren einen kleinen Beitrag zu geben; vielleicht eine*n Nachbar*in? In einer dritten Phase sollen Pflanzensetzlinge für die Frauen von ASOMOBI gekauft werden. Mit nur 5 Euro können Sie eine Familie zum Beispiel mit 30 Salatpflanzen, 20 Frühlingszwiebeln, 10 Weißköhle, 5 Tomaten UND Gewürzen wie Koriander und Petersilie unterstützen. Die frisch gebauten Hochbeete warten auf die jungen Pflanzen!

Estimados donantes, hoy podemos informarles que con el dinero de las donaciones se volvió a ayudar a una socia de ASOMOBI. Se trata de Doña Hortensia, una de las socias fundadoras de la organización. Ella padece de una enfermedad llamada contractura de Dupuytren, una enfermedad de los tendones que, al acortarse, provoca una dolorosa flexión de los dedos y restringe gravemente la función de la mano. Sus familiares y amigos recaudan dinero para la operación, que tiene que realizarse pronto para evitar un deterioro de la mano, y la apoyamos con 50.000 colones (unos 80 euros). ¡Gracias por su donaciones!
Pero hoy también tenemos otro anuncio: El proyecto de donación está llegando a su fin. Terminaremos la recolección de donaciones el 25 de septiembre. Hasta entonces, ¿le gustaría convertirse por última vez en un donante o motivar a un vecino, amigo o conocido a hacer una pequeña contribución? En una tercera fase queremos comprar plantas para las mujeres de ASOMOBI. Con tan solo 5 euros puede apoyar a una familia con, por ejemplo, 30 plantas de lechuga, 20 cebolletas, 10 repollos, 5 tomates y especias como cilantro y perejil. ¡Las camas elevadas recién construidas están listas para recibir las plantas!

Dear donors,
Today we inform you that another member of ASOMOBI was again helped with the money from the donations. This time, it was Doña Hortensia, one of the founding members of the organization. She suffers from a disease called Dupuytren’s contracture, a disease of the tendons that causes painful flexion of the fingers and severely restricts the function of the hand. Her family and friends are raising money for an operation, which has to be done soon to prevent damage to her hand, and we are supporting her with 50,000 colones (about 80 Euros or $84 USD). Thank you for your donations!
We also have another announcement: the donation project is entering its final stage and will end on September 25th. Before then, would you like to become a donor or encourage a neighbor, friend, or acquaintance to make a small contribution? With this third phase, we want to purchase plants for the women of ASOMOBI. With just 5 euro ($6 USD), you can support a family with, for example, 30 lettuce plants, 20 chives, 10 cabbages, 5 tomatoes, and spices like coriander and parsley. The newly built raised garden beds are ready to be planted! We appreciate you support!
