Als wir die Frauen von ASOMOBI fragten, wofür aus ihrer Sicht am nötigsten Geld aus unserer Spendenkampagne genutzt werden sollte, nannten sie uns unter anderem die Unterstützung von Fahrten ins Krankenhaus. Biolley ist ein sehr abgelegenes Dorf in den Bergen, wo die ersten 15 km aus den Bergen raus Schotterstraßen sind. Ab der asphaltierten Bundestraße, sind es noch mindestens 30km Strecke bis ins nächste Krankenhaus. Das Rettungsdienstwesen in Costa Rica ist wenig ausgebaut und in abgelegenen Regionen muss sehr lange auf einen Rettungswagen gewartet werden, sodass in der Regel auf einen privaten, sehr kostspieligen Transport zurückgegriffen werden muss. Wir entschlossen uns deshalb dafür Geld für diesen Zweck vor Ort beiseite zu legen.
Vor knapp einer Woche wurde Geld hierfür verwendet. César, der Ehemann einer Socia von ASOMOBI hatte am 17. April dieses Jahres auf dem Rückweg von der Arbeit einen Motorradunfall. Das Motorrad geriet auf lockeren Grund ins Schleudern und er fiel auf die rechte Körperhälfte. Glücklicherweise schützte der Helm seinen Kopf. Durch den Sicherheitsschuh ist auch der Fuß vor noch schlimmeren Verletzungen verschont geblieben, dennoch kam es zu einer großen offenen Schürfwunde und einer Verrenkung des Fußgelenkes. Die Heilung der Wunden bedurfte wiederholter chirurgischer Wundreinigungen im Spezialkrankenhaus in Perez Zeledón, zu denen César jedes Mal mit dem Auto gebracht werden musste, da er den Fuß keinen falls belasten konnte. Die Wunden sind inzwischen ausreichend verheilt. Jedoch führte die lange Ruhigstellung des Fußes dazu, dass er weiterhin nicht normal belastet werden kann. Da der Fuß so anschwillt, dass kein Schuh getragen werden kann, kann César seine Arbeit als Transporteur noch nicht wieder durchführen. Zum Be- und Entladen muss er Lasten heben, was nicht möglich ist, solange er den Fuß nicht richtig aufstellen kann.
In einem erneuten Arztbesuch heißt es nun für César, dass er zwei Wochen mit gezielter Physiotherapie in der Hauptstadt des Landes, San José (ca. 260km entfernt), verbringen muss.
Zur Unterstützung der vielen Fahrtkosten erhält die Familie von Ihren Spenden 50.000 colones (ca. 80 Euro). Wir wünschen César eine schnelle Genesung!

Cuando les preguntamos a las mujeres de ASOMOBI en qué aspectos necesitan más apoyo por medio de nuestra campaña de donaciones, mencionaron que necesitaban ayuda para viajes al hospital. Biolley es un pueblo que se ubica en las montañas, muy lejos de la ciudad, y los primeros 15 km son calles de lastre. Desde la carretera se debe recorrer por lo menos 30 km para llegar al hospital más cercano. Los servicios de emergencia tardan demasiado en llegar a los sitios de accidentes en zonas tan alejadas, por lo que generalmente se opta utilizar transporte privado (el cual es muy costoso), para asegurar una atención más rápida. Por lo tanto, decidimos guardar dinero para estos casos.
Hace casi una semana, se utilizó dinero para esto. César, el esposo de una socia de ASOMOBI, tuvo un accidente de motocicleta el 17 de abril de este año cuando regresaba del trabajo. La motocicleta patinó sobre la tierra suelta y cayó sobre el lado derecho de su cuerpo. Afortunadamente, el casco protegió su cabeza. Los zapatos de seguridad ayudaron a que no tuviera peores lesiones, pero aún así sufrió heridas y una dislocación del tobillo. La curación de las heridas requirió varias limpiezas quirúrgicas en el hospital de especialidades de Pérez Zeledón. César tuvo que ser llevado en automóvil para no lastimar su pie. Las heridas han sanado lo suficiente. Sin embargo, por la larga inmovilización de su pie, todavía no puede mantenerse de pie. Como resultado, César no puede reiniciar su trabajo como transportista ya que su pie se hincha y por esa razón, no puede usar zapatos y además no puede alzar la mercancía para cargar y descargar.
Así que él tuvo que visitar al médico otra vez y ahora tiene que pasar dos semanas con fisioterapia en San José, la capital del país (aprox. 260km).
Para sufragar los costos del viaje, la familia recibirá 50,000 colones (aprox. 80 euros) de sus donaciones. ¡Le deseamos a César una pronta recuperación!

When we asked the women from ASOMOBI what what the greatest needs were that could be helped with the money from our donation campaign, they mencioned transportation to the hospital. Biolley is a very remote village in the mountains, where the first 15 km out of town is all gravel roads. From the paved road, it is still at least 30 km to the nearest hospital. Emergency services in Costa Rica are not very well developed and you have to wait a long time for an ambulance to arrive in the remote areas, so usually private and very expensive transportation is required. We therefore decided to put money aside for this purpose.
Almost a week ago, some of this money was put to use. César, one of the member's husband, had a motorcycle accident on April 17th on his way home from work. The motorcycle skidded on loose gravel and he fell on the right side of his body. Fortunately, the helmet protected his head. The safety shoe also saved his foot from even worse injuries, but he still suffered a large open graze and a dislocation of his ankle. His recovery required repeated surgical wound cleaning in the special hospital in Perez Zeledón, to which César had to be brought by car because he could not put the foot on the ground. Thankfully his injuries have healed. However, the prolonged immobilization of his foot has made it difficult for him to put weight on it. As a result César cannot continue his work as a transporter because his foot swells, making it difficult to wear shoes and he cannot carry, load and unload the goods with only one good leg!
After another visit to the doctor, César now has to spend two weeks in physical therapy in the capital city, San José (aprox. 260km).
To support these travel costs, the family will receive 50,000 colones (approx. 80 euros) from your donations. We wish César a speedy recovery!

Guten Tag!
Nachdem wir uns schon mehrfach bei allen Spender*innen für die großzügige Unterstützung bedankt haben, geht unser Dank heute in eine ganz andere Richtung. Eine solche Spendenaktion bedarf großen organisatorischen Aufwandes. Häufig klang es in unseren Publikationen so, als wären nur wir deutschen ehemaligen Freiwilligen für alles verantwortlich. Dem ist aber in keinster Weise so. Wir möchten an dieser Stelle unseren herzlichen Dank vor allem an Óscar ausrichten. Er kommt selbst aus Biolley und macht dieses Jahr seinen Freiwilligendienst in Deutschland. Gerade in der schwierigen Zeit von Corona hat er uns tatkräftig bei der Organisation des Projektes und insbesondere den professionellen Übersetzungen all unser Texte ins Spanische geholfen. Auch die Neuigkeiten über die aktuelle Lage konnten nur durch seine aufmerksame Medienverfolgung verfasst werden. Muchísimas gracias, Óscar!

¡Buenos días! Después de haber agradecido varias veces a todos nuestros donantes por su gran apoyo, hoy queremos mandar las gracias a otra direción. Una campaña de donaciones como esta requiere mucho esfuerzo para organizarla. En nuestras publicaciones muchas veces sonaba, como si nosotras, las voluntarias alemanas somos responsables de todo. Pero eso no es cierto. En este lugar le queremos mandar nuestro agradecimiento cordial a Óscar. Él es de Biolley y ha estado en Alemania haciendo su voluntariado este año. Justamente en este tiempo difícil de Corona él nos ayudó activamente en la organización del proyecto y sobre todo en las traducciones profesionales de nuestros textos al español. Además las noticias sobre la situación actual en Costa Rica se pudieron escribir solamente con su seguimiento atento de la prensa local. ¡Vielen herzlichen Dank, Óscar!

After we have thanked all donors several times for their generous support, our thanks goes in a completely different direction today. A fundraising campaign like this requires a lot oforganizational effort! In our publications it often sounded as if only we former volunteers from Germany were responsible for everything. But this is in fact not the way it worked. At this point we would really like to express paritculary our sincere and deepest thanks to Óscar. He is from Biolley and is in his voluntary service in Germany this year. Especially in the difficult time of Corona, he actively helped us with the organization of the project and especially with the professional translations of all our texts into Spanish. Furthermore all the news about the current situation in Costa Rica could only have been written with the help of his attentive media follow-up. Muchísimas gracias, Óscar!
Another big THANK YOU goes to Geovanna and Ángela, both socias of ASOMOBI. Both have been in close contact with us throughout the whole campaign. They patiently listened to and answered all our questions about the possibilities of support and fairness in distribution and, above all, took charge of the organization in Biolley. Liebe Spender*innen, wir können Ihnen heute mitteilen, dass vom Spendengeld erneut individuell eine Socia von ASOMOBI unterstützt werden konnte. Es geht um Doña Hortensia, eine der Gründungsmitglieder der Organisation. Bei ihr entwickelt sich in der Hand eine sogenannte Dupuytren-Kontraktur, eine Erkrankung der Sehnen, die durch Verkürzung zu einer schmerzhaften Beugestellung der Finger kommt und die Hand stark funktionseinschränkt. In ihrer Familie und im Freundeskreis sammelt sie Geld für die Operation, die aufgrund einer akuten Verschlechterung zeitnah durchgeführt werden muss und wir unterstützen sie darin mit 50.000 colones (ca. 80 Euro). Danke an Sie als Spender*innen!
Doch heute haben wir auch eine weitere Ankündigung: Das Spendenprojekt neigt sich dem Ende entgegen. Wir werden die Sammelaktion am 25.09. beenden. Bis dahin möchten wir Sie noch ein letztes Mal ermutigen, selbst als Spender*in aktiv zu werden oder Freund*innen und Bekannte zu motivieren einen kleinen Beitrag zu geben; vielleicht eine*n Nachbar*in? In einer dritten Phase sollen Pflanzensetzlinge für die Frauen von ASOMOBI gekauft werden. Mit nur 5 Euro können Sie eine Familie zum Beispiel mit 30 Salatpflanzen, 20 Frühlingszwiebeln, 10 Weißköhle, 5 Tomaten UND Gewürzen wie Koriander und Petersilie unterstützen. Die frisch gebauten Hochbeete warten auf die jungen Pflanzen!

Ella padece de una enfermedad llamada contractura de Dupuytren, una enfermedad de los tendones que, al acortarse, provoca una dolorosa flexión de los dedos y restringe gravemente la función de la mano. Sus familiares y amigos recaudan dinero para la operación, que tiene que realizarse pronto para evitar un deterioro de la mano, y la apoyamos con 50.000 colones (unos 80 euros). ¡Gracias por su donaciones!
Pero hoy también tenemos otro anuncio: El proyecto de donación está llegando a su fin. Terminaremos la recolección de donaciones el 25 de septiembre. Hasta entonces, ¿le gustaría convertirse por última vez en un donante o motivar a un vecino, amigo o conocido a hacer una pequeña contribución? En una tercera fase queremos comprar plantas para las mujeres de ASOMOBI. Con tan solo 5 euros puede apoyar a una familia con, por ejemplo, 30 plantas de lechuga, 20 cebolletas, 10 repollos, 5 tomates y especias como cilantro y perejil. ¡Las camas elevadas recién construidas están listas para recibir las plantas!

Today we inform you that another member of ASOMOBI was again helped with the money from the donations. This time, it was Doña Hortensia, one of the founding members of the organization. She suffers from a disease called Dupuytren’s contracture, a disease of the tendons that causes painful flexion of the fingers and severely restricts the function of the hand. Her family and friends are raising money for an operation, which has to be done soon to prevent damage to her hand, and we are supporting her with 50,000 colones (about 80 Euros or $84 USD). Thank you for your donations!
We also have another announcement: the donation project is entering its final stage and will end on September 25th. Before then, would you like to become a donor or encourage a neighbor, friend, or acquaintance to make a small contribution? With this third phase, we want to purchase plants for the women of ASOMOBI. With just 5 euro ($6 USD), you can support a family with, for example, 30 lettuce plants, 20 chives, 10 cabbages, 5 tomatoes, and spices like coriander and parsley.
