Summe übergeben, Warten auf Doktor

Liebe Unterstützer/innen,

Im Februar haben wir Nolawi, den aufgeweckten kleinen Kerl, besucht. Um ihn herum herrscht eine liebevolle Atmosphäre. Wir spielen zusammen Ball und essen Popcorn. Er ist aktiv und wir müssen herausfinden, wie wir uns ohne Sprache und Geräusche verständigen können.

Dass sich bald sein Leben komplett ändern wird, weiß Nolawi noch nicht. Die OP ist vereinbart, die Anzahlung bei dem Krankenhaus hinterlegt. Für Voruntersuchungen fährt die Familie im März nach Addis Abeba. Nun muss nur noch der Arzt ins Land kommen. Er lebt in Australien, aber er hat einen Vertrag mit der Klinik. Der besagt, dass er 3-mal pro Jahr nach Äthiopien kommt zum Operieren. Es sind bereits mehrere Kinder gelistet, die dieselbe OP wie Nolawi erhalten sollen. Nun muss gewartet werden.

Damit der OP aus finanzieller Sicht nichts mehr im Wege steht, haben wir die gesamte, bisher gesammelte Summe an den Vater übergeben: 24.847 Euro sind angekommen.

Es lässt sich hier kaum beschreiben und an Sie weitergeben, was dort in dem Raum passiert ist. Diese Überwältigung von Freude und vor allem Dankbarkeit – ich kann es nicht in Worte fassen. Es scheint eine erdrutschartige Last von ihm zu fallen. Es sind so viele Emotion, dass wir schließlich aus dem Raum gehen, damit sich jeder für sich sammeln kann.

Deshalb – seien Sie sich versichert und nehmen Sie bitte in Ihr Herz auf, dass Sie mit Ihrem Beitrag ein erfülltes Leben - die Kindheit, die Jungend, das Erwachsensein, möglicherweise eine neue Familie, ein Altwerden – von Nolawi ermöglichen. Ein Leben, dass ansonsten nur mit viel Unterstützung von außen, kontinuierlicher Einschränkung und mit beschränkten Möglichkeiten verlaufen wäre.

In February, we visited Nolawi, the bright little boy. There is a loving air around him. We play ball together and eat popcorn. He is active, and we have to figure out how to communicate without language or sound.

However, this is going to change soon! The operation has been arranged, and the deposit has been paid to the hospital. The family is travelling to Addis Ababa in March for preliminary examinations. Now, the only thing remaining is the doctor to arrive in the country. He lives in Australia, but he has a contract with the clinic. This contract stipulates that he comes to Ethiopia three times a year to perform operations. Several children are already on the list to receive the same operation as Nolawi. Now we have to wait.

To ensure that nothing stands in the way of the operation from a financial point of view, we have handed over the entire amount collected so far to the father. 24,847 euros have arrived. It is difficult to describe and convey to you what happened in that moment. This overwhelming joy and, above all, gratitude – I cannot put it into words. The biggest weight that is lifted from his shoulders. There is so much emotion that we finally separate so that everyone can collect themselves.

Therefore, rest assured and please take into your hearts that your contribution will enable Nolawi to a full life – childhood, youth, adulthood, possibly a new family, old age. A life that otherwise would have been lived only with a lot of support from the outside, continuous restrictions and limited opportunities. The parents are eternally grateful to you. Thank you.
