How the Fundraising Goal Is Calculated
A cross-border family case spanning four countries brings not only immense emotional strain, but also substantial financial costs. To help supporters understand how the fundraising goal is determined, here is a transparent overview:
- In Germany, hourly rates for family lawyers range from €180–320, and in international cases often up to €350.
- In Italy, family law specialists generally charge €150–250 per hour, with higher rates for international proceedings.
- In Slovakia, hourly fees typically range between €80–150, and up to €220 for complex international matters.
Additionally, certified translations are required in all countries involved. One certified page costs on average €30–55. However, a single court decision often contains 8–20 pages, meaning that one document alone can cost €300–700 or more to translate — and frequently these same documents must be translated into several languages.
There are also travel and accommodation expenses for court hearings and, hopefully in the future, for personal contact sessions with my son, which I am currently fighting for.
My Personal Investment So Far
- €5,900 in German court fees — withdrawn from me unjustly
- €4,000+ in legal fees that I have already paid
- €2,700 in travel, accommodation, and other procedure-related expenses
The fundraising goal reflects the realistically expected costs for the coming months, to continue the ongoing appeals and legal remedies — and to ensure that Jano Bé’s voice is finally heard.
