wir haben in den Bergen noch immer weder Telefon noch Internetempfang, deshalb tröpfeln meine Nachrichten nur langsam ein.
Es gibt immer noch Dorfbewohner, die so traumatisiert sind von der Flucht vor der Feuerwalze, dass sie sich weder ins Dorf zurück trauen, noch die Verheerung mit eigenen Augen sehen wollen. Ausserdem sind ihre Autos abgebrannt auf der Flucht und ich glaube, dass der Anblick einfach zu verstörend ist.
Ich werde mich mit Eurer Hilfe dafür einsetzen, dass die verbrannten Autos so schnell wie möglich aus dem Dorf und von der Fluchtroute entfernt werden, damit dieses Bild des Grauens nicht unseren langsam wieder aufkeimenden Mut zunichte macht.
Ich kann Euch mit Freude berichten, dass heute Abend die allererste der verbrannten Katzen zu uns ins Dorf zurückkehren kann.
Sie hatte alle ihre Pfoten total verbrannt und diese bluteten einige Tage heftig. Inzwischen sind sie aber mit der aufopferungsvollen Plege in der Tierarztpraxis einigermaßenb verheilt, sodass sie endlich wieder nach Hause kommen kann.
Für uns hier ist das ein Symbol der Hoffnung, das wir mit Eurer Solidarität erreicht haben.

Der Wind hat nachgelassen und so können wir morgen mit den Baumfällarbeiten beginnen. Wir versuchen die Olivenbäume zu retten, die nicht vollkommen verbrannt sind. Manche, besonders die 500 Jahre alten sind aber leider komplett mit den Wurzeln verbrannt, und zwar so vollständig dass jetzt in der Erde 2 m tiefe Löcher klaffen.
Es gibt jetzte extrem viel Arbeit, denn wir müssen unbedingt verhindern, dass mit dem ersten Regen auch der Humus weggeschwemmt wird, also: Trockensteinmauern wieder aufbauen und den gesamten Schaden in und um unser Dorf herum aufnehmen, um mit den dringendsten Maßnahmen sofort zu beginnen.
Mit den Aufforstungsarbeiten beginnen wir, wenn der Sommer vorbei ist. Wir ermüden nicht, wir lieben diese Fleckchen Erde und wir werden es retten und mit Eurer Hilfe und Solidarität ökologisch aufforsten und zu einem Paradiesgarten machen.
